Anyone with common sense in our modern age wouldn't fabricate an Idol and worship it.... would they? Scripture reveals that all humanity worships something and if it's not the true God as revealed in the Bible, it will be a god fashioned by our own imaginations. They may be physical and tangible or remain hidden and treasured in the heart. Either way, they promise us freedom, peace and joy but can only enslave us and deliver misery and death. Thankfully, there is One with the power to liberate us from the dominating "idol factory" of our souls; The Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

We are born appraisers. We cherish somethings and consider other things worthless in comparison. Jesus knew many who "followed" him didn't know that true discipleship would cost them everything. But He also wanted them to know that nothing is truly lost when He is truly gained. The Apostle Paul affirmed this reappraisal of things when he wrote, "I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord." How did the Church of Jesus Christ grow from Twelve Ordinary Disciples to thousands upon thousands in a few short years after His Crucifixion, Resurrection and Ascension? The record of Luke's historical account tells us: Day by day, the Apostle Paul "spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God." Even though that should have been enough for all to believe, God accredited His Word and Paul's ministry by, "doing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul."
